Jaxartosaurus was a genus of hadrosaur dinosaurs that lived in the Late Cretaceous. Its remains were found near the Jaxartes River in the Aral Mountains of Kazakhstan. The name means "Jaxartes lizard" in reference to the Jaxartes River in Kazakhstan.
Very little is known about this genus of dinosaur. It was a duck-billed dinosaur that had huge flat cheek teeth. It had a large helmet-like crest that was used for visual identification or to vocalize with members of the same herd. It was a bipedal dinosaur that could also move on four legs. It was a herbivorous dinosaur that ate vegetation close to the ground.
