Aegyptosaurus was a genus of sauropod dinosaur that lived about 95 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period in what is now Egypt. The name means "lizard of Egypt" in reference to the country in which it was discovered. In 1932 it was described by the German paleontologist Ernst Stromer.
It had a long neck and a small skull like most sauropods. Its long tail was used as a counterweight to its body mass. It was a plant eating dinosaur and walked on all fours. It reproduced by laying eggs like other dinosaurs. There was no information on Aegyptosaurus, but it was a common prey of large predatory dinosaurs, such as Carcharodontosaurus and Spinosaurus.
It was a plant-eating dinosaur that probably ate a combination of leaves, twigs and seeds.
