Telmatosaurus was a genus of basal hadrosaurid dinosaur that lived in the Late Cretaceous. Its name means "swamp lizard".
It was a small hadrosaur compared to its relatives. It roamed the swampy environments of western Cretaceous Europe with many other dinosaur species, such as Magyarosaurus, a dwarf sauropod measuring only six meters. It was a herbivore that stripped newly evolved flowers of their leaves, as Zalmoxes ate fallen fruit from the ground, clearing the ground and feeding. It traveled in herds for "safety in numbers" due to threats from predators such as Balaur, a member of Dromaeosauridae. It walked both bipedally and quadrupedally.
It is estimated that Telmatosaurus was about 5 meters long and weighed half a ton.
