Eotyrannus was a genus of early Cretaceous tyrannosauroid theropod dinosaur. In 1996, a fossilized skeleton was found by amateur fossil collector Gavin Leng known as Eotyrannus. It was placed in the Tyrannosaurus family and represented one of the earliest Tyrannosaurs known to science.
It had serrated premaxillary teeth with a D-shaped cross section, proportionally elongated tibiae and metatarsals, which was present in tyrannosaurid characters. It has elongated neck vertebrae and long, well-developed forelimb arms along with the undecorated dorsal surface of the skull. This animal is known to have had the longest hands among the non-winged ones. It was a primitive dinosaur that hunted herbivorous dinosaurs such as the Hypsilopoda.
Eotyrannus was estimated to be about 4 meters long and weighed about 91-227 kg.
