Khaan was an oviraptorid dinosaur that lived in the Late Cretaceous (Campanian) period, 75 million years ago. In 2001, James M. Clark was the first to name the species as Khaan mckennai. It was derived from the Mongol emperor "Mongol khaan".
It does not differ from other oviraptorids. It was known to be partially carnivorous, feeding on small vertebrates such as mammals, lizards and possibly other small dinosaurs. Apart from that, its body was covered with feathers that protected it from the sun or kept it dry in the rain. The creature was often characterized as having walked on two legs.
