Everyone knows this deadly villain, the most famous dinosaur, who appears in many books, movies, TV shows and video games.

Tyrannosaurus Rex, or known as "the king of the tyrant lizards," was one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs ever to have lived on the land that now makes up western North America. It roamed the planet during the Late Cretaceous period 65 million years ago.

Everything about this ferocious predator was incredible; it was about 12 meters long and between 4.6 and 6 meters tall. It had a thick, massive 5-foot-long skull that could pierce prey up to its 4-foot-long jaw for maximum bone-crushing action. It had sturdy hind legs and a powerful tail that helped it move quickly or hunt prey. Tyrannosaurus rex walked on two legs; it had two-toed forearms that helped these skilled hunters grasp and slash at their target.

Tyrannosaurus Rex was equipped with 50-60 banana-sized teeth; it looked like jagged conical teeth used to grip meat. These weird eaters could tear off nearly 500 pounds of meat in one bite!

The king of the tyrant lizards was also intelligent, boasting a brain twice as large as that of the other giant carnivores. Large parts of its brain aided its vision and sense of smell and even had telescopic sight. These features would definitely have allowed it to hunt better.

Tyrannosaurus rex lived in forested river valleys during the Late Cretaceous period and was one of the last non-avian dinosaurs. They had a life span of about 30 years and became extinct about 65 million years ago in the Cretaceous-Tertiary mass extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs.

Did T Rex have lips?
Although there is much discussion about whether or not Tyrannosaurus Rex had lips, they believe that similar to today's living reptiles, such as crocodiles and alligators, it had no lips. And studies also show that these deadly predators had no lips as well. They have come up with this idea of an ancient pouting-mouthed beast that, instead of having sucking lips, were covered with sensitive scales. Furthermore, there is no evidence to support the idea that Tyrannosaurus rex had lips.

How many complete T-Rex skeletons are there?
A complete T-Rex skeleton has never actually been discovered. The closest we have been able to get is 90 percent complete, and in this case, the bones were remarkably well preserved. This 65-million-year-old specimen was nicknamed Sue by its discoverer.

Is there a dinosaur bigger than a T Rex?
