Talarurus was a genus of ankylosaurid dinosaur that lived approximately 90 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period. In 1952, it was discovered by Evgeny Maleev, a team of Russian paleontologists. Before the extinction of the K\/T about 30 million years ago, Talarurus was known to be one of the earliest members of the Ankylosaurus race. However, Talarurus was not large enough like Ankylosaurus, but was still capable of snapping for the average tyrannosaur or raptor. The name means \"wicker tail\" in reference to its wicker tendons that stiffened its tail and helped make it such a deadly weapon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Talarurus was a highly developed herbivore that could grow up to about 6 m long. It was the size of a hippopotamus that had heavy armor and a club on its tail. It walked on four legs and was composed of five toes. It moved through the vegetation that grew in the lowlands. This animal reproduced by laying eggs like any other dinosaur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
