Stegocera was a genus of pachycephalosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous period, towards the end of the Mesozoic era. It was first found in 1889 and the first pachycephalosaur to be described. The name means "horn-roofed" in reference to the thickened part of its skull. It was based on the combination of Greek words for "horn" and "roof".

It was a small, herbivorous dinosaur that had a large, thick-skulled head about 3 to 4 inches thick. It lived in small groups in coastal and upland regions. Stegoceros had heads butted heads with others of their species in bone-shaking contests. It has a relatively large brain and large eyes.

It was a two-legged and relatively fast dinosaur, probably its first line of defense. Males had thicker domes than females, while older ones had more viscous domes than young ones. Along the back of its skull, it had a fringe of horny knobs. It had short forelimbs and a large, stiff tail to keep body weight balanced.

Its thick dome was used for mating, dominance combat, mate attraction and defense against predators. Their teeth were curved and small.

Stegoceros grew to be 7 feet long and 4 feet tall and weighed approximately 170 pounds.
