Deltadromeus was a genus of theropod dinosaur that once lived in Africa, where the Sahara Desert is now located. It lived in the late Cretaceous period, about 95 million years ago. The name means "delta runner" in reference to a fast, bipedal, carnivorous dinosaur.

Deltadromeus was a contemporary of other large predators, including Suchomimus, Spinosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, Rugops, Sarcosuchus and Kaprosuchus. It had an unusual feature for a predator of its size, as it had a light and slender hind limb for its size, suggesting that it was a fast runner with great agility. It was believed to be one of the fastest dinosaurs that ever lived. In fact, it could run across the landscape at higher speeds than other large hunters. Its arms were relatively long compared to its hind limbs and ended in three-fingered hands with claws for grasping. It had very sharp teeth that were well adapted to cut through skin and flesh like an axe similar to other theropods. It stood upright and walked or ran on its two hind legs. It reproduced by laying eggs and was probably warm-blooded.

It is estimated that it reached up to 8.5 meters in length and weighed 1.5 tons.
