Deinocheirus was a large ornithomimosaur that lived in southern Mongolia at the end of the Cretaceous period. It was one of the most mysterious dinosaurs for almost 50 years. Polish paleobiologist Zofia Kielan-Jaworowska found remains of Deinocheirus, which made the whole world stop and pay attention to this find as its arms were about 2.4 meters long. They were believed to have come from a theropod dinosaur; they were the most massive dinosaur arms of their species.

Scientists suggested that Deinocheirus was an ostrich-like dinosaur or technically known as an ornithomimosaur because of the proportions of the bones on hand. An adult Deinocheirus was estimated to measure 35 to 40 feet from head to tail and weigh between seven and ten tons. It was named as the largest "bird mimic" dinosaur identified.

As vast and terrifying as they were, Deinocheirus were not devout carnivores. Although they had supplemented their diets with small portions of meat, they occasionally ate fish and plants. In other words, they were omnivores.

Deinocheirus had a small brain, whose IQ was more in the range of what would be found in a Diplodocus or a Brachiosaurus-like sauropod dinosaur. It may have caused problems in social behavior and hindered its inclination to actively hunt prey.

Deinocheirus was a large ornithomimosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous about 70 million years ago.
Deinocheirus comes from the Greek word deinos meaning "horrible", and cheir "hand" due to its unusual forelimb structure.
